Change Main Menu of Nokia Symbian Phones

You've already change the themes, but the application folder, my own, and games haven't changed? If it so, it's same with me. :)

But there is a way to address 'em. Here are the steps:

  • This can be done only on hacked symbian phones, please read how to hack symbian phones. First, install SecMan and X-plore on your phone.
  • Download this file, extract and save on your memory card.
  • Open SecMan and select turn plat. security OFF as follows:
  • Open X-plore, copy the file 'Menu.mif' to C:\resource\apps
  • Open the folder C:\Private\101F4CD2\Content and backup/copy files 'appshelldata.xml 'to the memory card or up to you. Next, copy file 'appshelldata.xml' that you downloaded earlier to the C:\Private\101F4CD2\Content folder and overwrite the existing file.
  • Exit X-plore and do not forget to turn off and exit SecMan. Restart your phone.

After restart, go to the main menu. You will find a new menu icon with a full icons, included application, my own, and games folder, but it still messed up than before. We've just need to manage the application and folder.

To restore the menu as before, just return the file 'appshelldata.xml' (that've been backup earlier) to original folder -> C:\Private\101F4CD2\Content.

Add 5 Mb of Phone Memory

Here is the something really interesting to increase your phone memory by nearly 5MB. This only can do on hacked phone, or you have SecMan application. It's a simple way, just go to c:/private/102072c4 folder and delete the reserved file. It size is 4.76MB , so you'll have around 5MB of phone memory space. It does eventually come back sometimes, so at those times you can delete it again. Its the file which reserve the extra memory if you delete this file, there is nothing happen and no harm to your phone. Its safe, just do it and enjoy the 5 MB more free memory on your phone.

Or use Freespace apps. With this Application, you will replace file from your private directory, and after you remove the software from your application manager, you will get extra 5MB of phone memory.

    Organizer

    Battery Standard battery, Li-Ion 890 mAh (BL-5B) Stand-by Up to 250 h, Talk time Up to 3 h

Some of the advantages and disadvantages of the Nokia 6120, according to me:
This phone is already equipped with HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) access, so, it will be good if used for modem, but of course if we have good 3G/HSDPA network. I've already try this and the result was not disappointed, either just to browse or download.

With the Symbian S60 v9.2, S60 rel. 3.1 operating system, we can install any applications (that can be a useful stuff for our life :)), because so many application around the web that compatible with Symbian OS. Various applications such as software, games, etc can be applied in this mobile phone. Usually, these gadget need to get 'hack', so we can use it to maximum capability :). For how to hacking this phone, I'll post in the next article.

Nokia 6120C can run several applications at one time (multi-tasking), this is because the large memory capacity. The signal reception is very good, and I can hear the voice very clearly through the speakers. The display looks very clean, supported MPE display 16 million colors so it can display colors with a clear and bright.

2.0 Megapixels camera and a flashlight, not auto focus. Picture looks good on the phone, but on pc, they look a bit washed and rough. So, I will not recommend this gadget as a substitute for the digital camera.

6120c has a music player compatible with AAC, AAC +, eAAC +, MP3, and WMA, and can filter tracks by artist, album, genre, etc. There is customisable equalizer, Bass Boost and Stereo widening. Can play sequential or random, and you can also play circle. Unfortunately, the speaker is still mono, but still loud and clear. We can use ringtones from audio standards like: AAC, AAC +, eAAC +, MP3, MP4, M4A, WMA, Mobile XMF, SP-MIDI, AMR (NB-AMR), MIDI Tones (polyphonic 64 channel), RealAudio 7, 8.10, WB-AMR, WAV.

The processor is fast enough, 369 MHz. Fast enough compared with the N73. It has 43 MB internal memory and external memory support up to 8gb MicroSD (i've been tested it). For connectivity, it quite complete. With Bluetooth and miniUSB, we can connect this phone to PC and can be used as a modem, flash, synchronizing, etc.

Conclusion:
- Advantages: fast access, HSDPA, light body, cheap price, multifunctional, connectivity OK, many entertainment features, good signal reception.
- Disadvantages: the camera is less than maximal ability, still mono speaker, the battery is less durable, does not have GPS.

But overall, it is very satisfying for me. Recommended phone for who's looking for cheap price with many feature... :)
